WINTERLIGHT REFUGEE
The beacon of the North

xxxThe Winterlight Refugee was established as a safe area and temporary shelter, for travellers and explorers who partake in the challenging climb of the Fe’gan Mountains, in the realm of Basantha.

xxxIt is humbly built upon the foot of one of the icy alps, within a zone where it is neither too cold but not warm enough for snow to melt with ease. Winterlight is a welcome home for many creatures of the Land.

xxxThe Refugee consists of small wooden houses, a subterranean section beneath the nearby mountain, and a stone watchtower that is tall enough for the highest point, which contains a beacon, to reach the thick shroud of mist that covers the hills. The beacon of the tower is only lit during the coldest of days.

[Wyvern]

The Dark Watchtower

xxxVisible above anything else within Winterlight stands the Dark Watchtower. Made out of the same stone that shapes the Fe'gan Mountains, the watchtower is home to the main residents. The very top of the tower, nearly reaching the cold mountain mists, houses an unusual beacon of antiquated nature.

xxx The beacon functions via a grand brazier lit by magical means. A panel made out of a reflective, copper-like material is held besides the brazier, facing it in a way it bounces off the light given by the powerful, but safely contained flame. The flame itself has no defined color or shape and seems to vary from time to time. It is only lit when the mists surrounding the village and mountains is too dense, or when a snowstorm is approaching.

xxxWhile the true story remains a mystery, it is said that Jace, alongside several companions, went missing while seeking the Basantha Shrine among the Fe’gan Mountains. Their trip was turned into a tragedy due to a dangerous snowstorm.

xxxWhen he was thought gone forever, many years later Jace arose among snow and sleet in a new form. His memory seemingly erased, and it is unknown if he was a Tundragoon to begin with, or if he was ultimately subject to a curse due to wandering too far into the icy peaks. Now well accustomed to the tundras and mountains of Basantha, Jace decided to call the region his new home.

xxx Born and raised near the Dead Coast of Norrega, Myrddin lived as a thief since a very young age. With no biological family, friends or even allies to rely on, Myrddin was a lonely runt who survived by stealing food from shops and stalls along the coastal city. He only recalls having rivals, all of them being critters as small as he was. Their size allowed them to snatch and flee from the scene with ease.

xxxMyrddin formed a gang of little creatures like him, but they were quickly invaded, overpowered by larger competition within the city. Driven out of their turf, they scattered and fled across Norrega. All alone once more, he once more stole whatever resources he could from the Dead Coast, and trekked into Basantha. He overcame the harsh desert landscape of the Wilt'no by traveling only at night, but couldn't go far and ultimately passed out from the unforgiving weather of the northern mountains.

xxxIn a faithful encounter, Jace, the Tundragoon, found Myrddin within the snow, and rescued him. The Tavil now owes Jace his life, and has sworn to do his best to no longer partake in a life of thievery.

[Wyvern]

The Tiny Snow Village

xxxAs their naming gives away, the village appears perpetually covered in, at least, a thin layer of snow and ice. The area holds a few wooden homes, each purposely built to be just slightly larger than that of a human-sized home. Yet some of them have oddly-shaped doors and windows, as if they were created to fit creatures of specific sizes.

xxxEach house contains a fireplace and chimney, with pillars of dark stone built onto one of their sides, and structured upwards to allow the smoke to escape. The log-fueled flames from each fireplace appear to be the only thing that lights the interior of the homes. Outside, however, there is little to no lighting that reveals on the crudely built stone paths that lead into each house. It is almost as if the village residents have no need for illumination.

xxx Within the center of the village rests a statue of a wolf-like animal. It poses to stand on their hind feet, and their maw is open to reveal a small, but bright flame. It is, unfortunately, just the right level of brightness to reveal the shape of the statue, yet not capable of clearly displaying the rest of the village center, giving the area an eerie look.

xxxMirmir's greatest virtue is also the Werecain's biggest weakness. She is deep down quite sentimental and clingy to her friends and family. Just like her partner, Adriana, Mirmir will do what it takes to protect those they care for. She is a fair combatant as well, but unlike the Serraptor, the Werecain is passive and reserved; she tries her best to avoid conflict, keeping away from trouble. Mir will, however, gladly step in when a situation grows dire; for they are unable to stay idly in the face of any danger.

[Wyvern]

The Mountain Tunnels

xxxFar past the village, and not far from the watchtower, lies the entrance to a subterranean area underneath the nearest mountain. The entrance is large enough for big creatures to easily fit inside. Within the walls of the main tunnel, there are a variety of paintings and shapes that pop out from the stone bricks. Some of the paintings appear vibrant and recent, and the figures drawn are of wild animals from the mountains.

xxxEventually, the main tunnel forks into branching paths. Some of which, appear so far deep there does not seem to be a visible end to them. Others contain gates and doorways, where it seems that there are inhabitants residing within these caverns. The reason why these residents decided to seclude themselves within, is a complete mystery.

xxx A mysterious Fellox who claims to carry brief memories of countless past lives. In this life, Kumara has been "cursed" to transform into his current mortal shape, which they believe is a symbolism for all the entropy they provoked in these past lives.

xxx Regardless of whenever they have truly been living for many thousands of years, or for only a few decades, Kumara roams the Lands, seeking to piece together lost memories of their past. For instance, as a form of repentance for their troubles, the Fellox now seeks to do what is right and make amends with others. They may be blunt and occasionally forgetful of how the modern world works, but does their best to remain friendly and well-mannered towards people.

xxx Kumara may have once lived as a trickster, that made lost travelers follow them through unusual landscapes, only for them to become unable to keep up and their fate become unknown. One of their most recurring memory is a dark forest with shadowy creatures that avoided them for an unknown reason. This could possibly be caused by having many lifetimes of loneliness, and unable to find a companion for their travels.
