.:The Matches :.

(pr: MAA-chez)

The Matches species are known to have a lifespan of only 2 weeks before they die. However, each and every time, the rise from their own ashes, rejuvenated and restored; no one knows exactly why this is so...

.:The Polly :.

(pr: PAW-lee)

Often called the 'Treasures of the Forest', the timid Pollies are very often found as house pets as they get along well with others, both animal and human alike. They are extremely intelligent and can repeat several phrases if taught and can perform various air tricks, which they use in the wild to attract a mate. They are also the most talktative of birds, making sounds that vary from squeaks to whistles to shrieks...

.:The Garudor :.

(pr: Gah-ROO-door)

Standing taller than a full-grown man, the Garudor is quite an impressive feathered species. In ancient times, Garudors were valued as sacred creatures and often were the mounts of Kings and Queens. Now, Garudors continue serving as rideable creatures, and can soar high in the skies for hours on end without tiring. They eat fish, rabbits, and even small farms animals, such as pigs and young calfs. Garudors usually build their nests high up on the sides of dormant volcanoes, as the warmth of the volcano saves them the trouble of incubation. They are also known to wield the power of fire. A very high-tempered species, trainers know when to back away from a moody Garudor...

.:The Roosken :.

(pr: ROOS-kin)

Sadly, the female Roosken is not available, as their looks differ from the more eccentric males. These feathered companions are very common with Evelon farmers and breeders. Each Roosken just slightly differs from the other in appearances, and breeders always try to create a Roosken with interesting traits, often for sale or contests. Male roosken are very outgoing, competitive, and love to show off. Their early crowing can be heard for about a mile, so most owners tend to leave these pets outside.

.:The Magistrey :.

(pr: MAA-jis-tray)

A race of regal fliers, the Magistrey believe themselves of noble stature. Because of years of complicated evolution, they are able to speak the human language and use their talent to the fullest. Many people consider them as another 'race' of intelligent beings, as large groups often have a sophisticated governing and ranking system, and conduct their affairs much like humans do. Magistrey also think of themselves highly when compared to Garudor, believing that Garudor are "barbaric ruffians". Some say that Magistrey harbor an instinctual hatred for all Garudor...

.:The Turkezilla :.

(pr: Tur-keh-ZILL-uh)

One of Evelon's most ferocious creatures, the Turkezilla's notoriety is so widely known that a day was dedicated to them. About the size of a man, these carnivorous creatures enjoy hunting in packs, and though they are unable to fly, they are extremely fast runners for their bulk. On this day, all Turkezillas' voracious hunger is multiplied, therefore they all go out and begin to chase down anything that moves; because of this feeding frenzy on this particular day, everyone is advised to wear holiday clothing (i.e. something that's dark and makes you go unnoticed by hungry poultry). This day is known as Thanks For Life Day.

.:The Sygriff :.

(pr: SIH-gryf)

A noble and enigmatic species, the Sygriff are interesting creatures in that in some instances, they have been known to slow or quicken time around themselves and those within radius. Sygriffs are also quite passionate in whatever they do, often quarreling to defend what they believe is right and true, using their wings to appear more imposing. Despite this side, they are actually very easy to get along with and go great with children.

.:The Tengumi :.

(pr: Ten-GOO-mee)

A regal and mystic species, the Tengumi carry themselves with elegance and pride. A rare find, they prefer to live both in snowy regions or hidden lagoons in the east, far from those that would harm them for their plumage. Their diet consists of fruit, fresh shoots, and fish. The story of the birth of the Tengumi is said to have started with the folding of a thousand paper cranes at the hands of only one lonely child whose village had burned down during a violent raid. The life god, Zu'hai noticed this act and granted life to the very first Tengumi, which accompanied the child for the entirety of its life. Because of their elaborate dance displays during courtship, the Tengumi were repeatedly used as elegant motifs for ancient art and fabrics.
